Web site navigation methods studied
Wednesday, August 10th, 2005A Study of Web site Navigation Methods evaluates six different navigation methods for the same web site to choose the one the most convenient for users.
According to the study, the most convenient navigation methods are a directory-style menu (Yahoo-style) and drop-down menu. Unfortunately, when considering pros and corns of both navigation methods, the study authors did not take SEO into account and chose drop-down menu. From the SEO point of view, Yahoo style menu has a great advantage as it lets you link the most important pages of your site to the homepage. I will definitely use Yahoo-style menu for all my new projects.
